Maya joined Tactical Tech in December 2009, and has worked on a range of projects in this time. Since 2014 her work has focused on developing the organisation's applied research work on digital security, privacy, and activism; evaluation, impact and monitoring; and on producing external publications, public-facing events, and writing. In 2016 she started providing strategic direction and support to the organisation's Gender & Tech projects. Before joining Tactical Tech, Maya worked on one of the first studies of gender and online violence with APC's Women's Rights Program, and on ICTs in development. Maya holds Masters degrees in Applied Psychology from Delhi University, India, and in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of Sussex, UK. She is now enrolled for a part-time PhD at Leuphana University investigating machine learning and ethics in driverless cars. She is often on Twitter as @mayameme
