Maria Jose Calderon

I am a scholar and a senior-level consultant on international development
programs. I have professional experience on diverse sectors including public
non-profit, government, academia, and the private sector.
As a communications expert, I have over 15 years of experience promoting
freedom of expression in Ecuador. My expertise lies on the intersection of
democratic governance, digital rights, and the use of digital platforms for
social good.
I have also managed large-scale projects for the National Electoral Program on
Democracy and Citizenship and have overseen training for public sector
employees as the head of the Continuing Education Department at the
National School of Government.
I am a contributor to international reports on state of Human Rights, Politics
and Internet, as well as other Latin American news outlets and other Non-
governmental organizations. Currently I work as an academic and researcher
with cyber security governance and democracy.
